CANS FOR GOOD Campaign

The mission of the SVDP/Sacred Heart Food Pantry is to provide assistance to those in need in our parish and the surrounding community. In the past, we have asked for your help with this mission by sponsoring reverse collections and brown bag Sundays and you have been very generous. While these programs have had some success, the SVDP/Sacred Heart Food Pantry Committee is trying something new!

Introducing the CANS FOR GOOD campaign!

We are asking each parish family to make a commitment of bringing one shelf stable item to Mass each week. Don’t think this campaign is for you?  Ask yourselves:

• Can I spare one canned good each week?
• Can I make a habit of coming to Mass with this item each week?
• Do I want to make a difference?
• Am I blessed with ample food on my table each day?
• Is there no greater reward than giving?

 Did You Know?

• There are about 365 registered families at Sacred Heart.
• Just 1 can a week from each family will collect over 18,000 cans each year.
• SVDP/Sacred Heart Food Pantry serves an average of 162 people each month.
• To supplement our parish donations, it costs an average of $900.00 per month to purchase supplies from other sources to serve these families.

Don’t think that you can remember or maybe you forgot one week? No problem! We have set up CHANGE FOR GOOD containers at the missal stations of the church ready to accept your spare change.

     On June 1, 2010 we will start another cycle of 120 CLUB weekly raffles. We invite anyone interested in participating in the drawings to call the church office (625-9525). The big prize drawing is held at the end of the period. Any player can buy more than one membership.

     The entry cost is $20.00 for the twenty weekly prize drawings and the big prize drawings at the end of each cycle of play. Those folks who have participated in the past will continue to hold their playing number if they so choose and new members will be added to the roster of players.
